Why I Became A Financial Advisor

Sometimes in life, we start out going one direction and end up somewhere completely different. That doesn’t mean we made a mistake or wasted time. Instead, we gained significant knowledge and experience that can be blended together to create something unique. You might look at my qualifications and think, “How did someone with a music degree end up owning a financial advisory firm?” But my background in music, paired with my passion to help others with their money, brought me to where I am today.

First Steps

When I started my career, it was with a bachelor’s degree in music education and music therapy in hand. While I loved the field of music and am still an experienced violinist and music instructor, I saw a need in the financial industry for client-focused service and decided to do my part to meet it. I began working for Morgan Stanley and was inspired to pursue financial services as a career by my assistant director at the time. He showed me the value financial advisors can bring to people’s lives and the importance of building a strong financial foundation. I went on to earn my Master of Science in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University while also gaining hands-on experience working for various firms.

What I Do Today

Throughout the years, I started to see the connection between the concepts involved and the discipline required in both music and in financial services. I wanted to help my clients find harmony between life and finance through a disciplined, diversified, and dynamic approach to investing. After 14 years of working for various firms, with my passion and experience in hand, I decided to branch out on my own, and in 2007 I founded Crescendo Finance.

Crescendo Finance is a client-centered firm built on the foundation of thoughtful client relationships. We help clients by creating and managing portfolios tailored to their investment needs and guiding them as they plan for the future.

Challenges And Victories

Like any job, this one has its ups and downs. I invest a lot into our clients, but sometimes it can be difficult to find new clients who share our vision and want to commit to the trusted, long-term relationship I offer. On the other hand, there’s nothing as fulfilling as knowing you have helped people get closer to their goals and relieved some of their financial burdens. I have a refrigerator door covered in thank-you notes from my clients that remind me that what I’m doing matters.

Take The Next Step

Regardless of where you are on your financial journey, I would love to help you find harmony in your life. Are you interested in learning more about how I work and the services I offer?
